Ok here is what you need to know:
1. We want to go to Jamaica and as close to the airport (aka no two hour long drives through country) as possible
2. We don't want to sleep in a smelly, musty, room, or have to worry about creepy crawlies but otherwise we aren't too particular
3. We have a teeny budget and no credit cards - just bank accounts that ebb and flow depending on the time of the month
4. Actually scratch #1 we feel as though we would like Jamaica but would be pretty much content anywhere with a chill out vibe, sand, sun, and no pressure to be adventurous. We want to shop, swim, sex, and maybe have a dolphin encounter - I'm open to suggestions!
That's it - simple right? Wrong. I can't seem to locate anything under $5,000 and I know it must exist. Married ladies and seasoned travelers...what am I doing wrong and how do I fix it?
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

Have you considered meeting with a travel agent? I know they seem more expensive, but they will know more than anyone how to best apply your budget to the vacation you want.
Also, consider places that are less popular or not typical honeymoon spots. (i.e. Brett and I are considering Bulgaria or Croatia instead of Greece - Just as beautiful, but at half the cost)
Oh, and another thing. Do you know anyone who owns a timeshare that would be willing to give you a week at their resort as a their wedding gift to you? It seems like a lot of people get gifts like this from siblings, parents, or aunts/uncles latley. Time shares are also another good way to get free "adventures" while on the trips. Each time my parents go to Cabo they sit through a timeshare presentation for a free dinner at a nice restraunt, or a free massage, or free trip to "jet ski fun havin place". These hotels usually set up at airports to advertise, and you just need to keep your eyes open for the deals.
I've considered meeting with a travel angent- I think that's going to be the best way for us to go because Ben and I are the blind leading the blind - I've only booked vacations at seedy hotels in Florida and clearly I don't want that for our honeymoon! As far as a time share goes- nope I don't know anyone- it sucks but that's the way it is- unless your parents want to give me theirs! LOl!
Most of the resorts in Jamaica are all inclusive, meaning for a flat rate of $150-$200/a person per day will include food, room, alcohol, entertainment, and spa. I would recommend one of the larger resorts. They offer good security and keep out peddlers and solicitors. (Beware you will instantly be bombarted by people, if you are not on private property.) We're in Arizona and can typically find airfare for $400-$500/per person flying into Montego Bay. $20 will get you a Taxi ride to most resorts, no need to rent a car. Day excursions are fairly inexpensive as well.
No worries, you'll be able to do alot with $5000 and one week! :o)
Try AppleVacations.com
I always find amazing deals on flight/hotel packages. Some are even all inclusive! :)
