Arg!!!

Does blogger ever F with anyone else?

I mean I am deep in blog catch up mode (yes on a Friday night- you can call me lame ass if you want but I'm happy as a clam!) when I click on the next subscription I want to read and it starts taking too long to load and the next thing you know I get an error message! This happens often too and it bums me out! How am I ever going to catch up like this?!?!!

I vow never to get this stinkin' behind again- so help me!

Tonight has been wonderful PS....catching up with recorded TV, catching up with blogger, dinner and a back massage with Boo, and the realization that when I go to bed tonight I need not set any clock because I have no plans tomorrow!

Of course Ma Mere does want me to go to some garlic festival with her an hour away tomorrow but I think I made it pretty darn clear that I'm not digging it!

Anyhow, tomorrow day I'm planning to stay pretty low key then tomorrow night its an excursion for Jen's bday (although to be quite honest I'm planning to make a cameo, have a beverage and be on my way).

Sunday its the Bengals vs. Ravens for 1st place in the AFC North!

I plan to post for todays Kelly's Korner Sunday evening (I didn't plan ahead well)

I'm also planning a post on my latest beauty booty ( super cheap from Walgreens PS!)

But for now....

I am planning night night time (Yes, at 10:30 on a Friday...deal with it)

Sleep tight ladies (and gents if there are any)

So Stinkin' Busy

I am like DAYS behind on reading almost any of my beloved blogs. I've peeked in on a few just in passing and have tried to comment but its just not working.

What's got me so behind? Well....

Thankfully, after the festival took place my work life has slowed way down. Alas, I am gearing up for Megan's wedding and have been in whirlwind mode performing BFF duties.

Remember how I've mentioned the MOH has been dropping the ball? Well night before last Megan asked me to write a speech to deliver at the reception because she is so disenchanted with her cousin (who is the MOH btw). So night before last I spent my evening drafting my speech. Now I've got to go in and edit. I of course will certainly share with you fine ladies when it is written.

Then last night when I arrived home from work I immediately grabbed my dress and shoes and went to have my dress fitted. It was a quick appt. so I came home hoping for a few moments of peace and quiet before my next task when Ben's mom showed up unannounced. I sat and chatted with her for about 30 minutes before I heard a double honk outside indicating Megan was there to pick me up for her hair trial.

We went to that (her hair is going to be stunning btw) and by the time I got home it was already 9:30. Ben and I watched Glee and went to bed!

Whew. 9 days and counting! I am so glad to be sharing this time with her but will also be so glad when its over (and I don't feel bad for saying that because she feels the same way)! We are deep in weddings over here: Meg's is October 17, then our friend Lindseys is in April, my assistant's is in May, Mine is in June, our friend Ashley is having a "real wedding" (she married in a civil service several years ago) in August, and my friend Rachel's is October 16th of next year! It really is going to be the year of weddings almost to the date exactly.

Then it will be babies. I

It never ends does it?

So I am hoping to catch up on reading/commenting tonight while I catch up with my DVRd shows. I try to catch up on my lunch breaks at work but my work computer generally has a melt down and I end up having to reboot the whole darn thing!

So...how is everyone else? Enjoying the fall weather? I don't know it is in other parts of the world but in Southern Ohio we've jumped immediately to super chilly weather- I hope its not an indication of a rough winter to come!

Gotta run for now!

Much Love,

Miss Amber Lane

This Weekend I ...

Saturday:

Successfully threw a "Country Living" festival at my work and got my boo and Ma Mere to run sno cone and cotton candy machines to help a sistah out.... and I of course dressed the part...

I got to snuggle with the softest, sweetest bunny ever....

Then I got to help my bff celebrate her last night out as a single lady by...

Catching up with some girlfriends

Making a new friend through bachlorette party dares.

Sharing a yummy garlic, pasta dish with the bride at Bar Louie

Accidentally breaking a wine glass before exiting the establishment...

And all together drinking too much and having a kick ass time...

(before getting my heel stuck in the deck at bar number 3, falling on my butt, getting laughed at by a table of strangers, crying and then catching a ride back to the hotel a smidge early to take my drunk ass to bed).

The bride clearly enjoyed herself as well.....

Sunday

after the party I spent the day sleeping and watching the Bengals (finally) beat the Browns in the last few seconds of overtime. Putting the Bengals in a tie for first place. Who Dey.

Monday I was finally rid of the hangover funk and had a day date with the boo:

We ate at IHizop

And caught a noon showing of the Toy Story double feature in 3D.

When we got home I cleaned, cooked dinner, rediscovered my velcro rollers....

And last but not least tried out my new beauty loot courtesy of Young, Fabulous, and Pregnant (thanks again lady!)

In all it was a fun-filled, too quickly passing weekend. Only four days in this work week followed by another weekend to celebrate my friend Jen's bday and catch some r&r before Meg's big day on the 17th. Then just three short days before Megan's wedding festivities begin!

I can't believe my best friend is getting married:

Time Flies.

Hope your weekends were fab!

Much Love,

Miss Amber Lane

Miss Otis Regrets She's Unable To Lunch Today

I am in a craptastic mood right now.

I just sent Boo out for diet coke and chocolate if that's any indication as to what it is in fact that is plaguing me.

I'm sure when I wake up tomorrow all will be right with the universe again- but tonight I prefer to wallow.

So far I've pissed and moaned over a photo collage I couldn't make look "just so", almost cried on the phone to my mom over my aunt's family who I was so close with growing up but have grown apart from recently, bellyached over the lack of planning Megan's so called MOH has demonstrated for my bff's bachelorette party, eaten left over Indian food, not shredded, walked, or THOUGHT of working out and all together pretty much been a heinous you-know-what to Boo who made me promise to be happy for the rest of the night if he completed the diet coke/chocolate run.

I promised.

But my fingers were crossed.

After this post, I plan to do some light blog reading, consume said snacks, light some candles and crawl into bed for Grey's Anatomy and the rest of FlashFoward (good show btw).

Tomorrow I promise; I'll be your ray of sunshine.

Tonight I'm a tsunami.

Hope the rest of ya's are in better moods than moi!

Much Love!

What's In a Blog?

What attracts us to blogs?

Is it splashy layouts and quirky titles? Loads of pictures? Giveaways? A killer default picture?

I've been pondering this of late. What attracts 2,000 people to a particular blog and 10 to another? This is a question that I've bounced around as I've read my subscriptions. There are some killer writers out there that barely have a single follower while other people post a single picture daily and have triple digits - and don't get me wrong I enjoy both types I'm just wondering what the break down is?

If you have tons of followers- why do you think that is?

Or better yet- take a look at your blog list- what attracted you to the blogs that you follow?

Me? I'm just personally amazed that there are 25 people who give a hoot about anything that I have to say in a given day and even more amazed that none of those people are my mother! So to followers of Miss Amber Lane - Hollah you are loved and appreciated!

Anyhow......

Today was a good day. Busy, but good. Tied up the loose ends for the festival this weekend, shopped for supplies, created the first of three October bulletin boards. Left around 7pm was so confused by construction on the way home I missed my exit but arrived home to candles lit and dinner on the table. We're a family built for autumn - candles, comfort food, and comfy blankets - that's what tonight was all about.

Tomorrow work followed by a MUCH needed hair appointment. I put it off way too long so that it would be fresh for Megan's bach. party and wedding- so really looking forward to that tomorrow.

Well that's it for me tonight!

Tomorrow is Wednesday- we're almost halfway there!

Much Love!

Fast Foward

1. I'm sitting in a very clean, great smelling house right now and the best part is - its mine!

2. I have NO dirty laundry right now! Boo on the other hand has loads!

3. Did not shred yesterday...started to today but Boo and I made the mistake of eating first and we thought we might die so we turned off Jillian and "phoned it in". We took a brisk walk instead. Plan to get back on it tomorrow- though I have to admit I'm pretty bored by it. Don't get me wrong its still hard and quite effective but too dull to do everyday.

4. Speaking of eating ... we are no longer slaves to our couch. We have been eating like grown ups lately.... that's right ladies ... at the table!

5. Future MIL sent home our very first gift from our registry with Boo today. It was our casual china spoon rest. Our wedding is still 9 months away so imagine my surprise when Boo came home and handed me a pretty pink gift bag- as a "cheer me up" present for all my long days at work from his mom! I almost teared a bit.

6. Weekend was good. Saturday went shopping with Megan for her bachlorette party outfit for next Saturday. Then Boo and I went to dinner at Fridays, went to Target, then came home and watched Choke on demand. Sunday Emily and Will came over for the Bengals/ Steelers game - Bengals won (HUGE victory for Cincinnati), we played Scattegories then Emily and I drank Chardonnay and watched Dexter.

7. This week is big- festival at work this weekend, Meg's bach party this weekend, finally having my hair done Wed.

8. Got behind on reading and commenting this weekend- promise to catch up soon!

9. Started decorating for fall. Waiting for big bins to come from Boo's parents before I really go nuts!

And for now that's all! Looking forward to catching up with everyone soon. Hope everyone had a good weekend and has an even better week!

Much Love!

Kreativ Blogger Award

I've been waiting quite awhile for someone to bestow this cute award on me so imagine my delight and surprise when A Blonde Ambition left me a love note letting me know that she selected me as one of her lucky recipients!

The rules of this award state that I must let you in on 7 little secrets about moi in order to accept. Its going to be a challenge coming up with even more juicy little tid-bits that you don't already know but I'm going to give it a shot:

1. You may or may not have already gathered this about me if you've been a follower for awhile but in high school I was a: cheerleader, flute player, vocalist, show choir nerd, newspaper staff member, thespian society member, drama club loser, creative writing publication writer, mellaphone player, softball second base(wo)man, colorguard flagging, A+ Spanish student, overachiever and I'm so proud to say I had my hands in all of that at one point or another- it made me impossible to type cast or clique! I had friends in all areas!

2. I'm actually a pretty stellar singer (if I do say so myself) I've performed in multiple foreign countries and at pro sporting events...but these days just like to knock em' dead at karaoke.

3. I have major girl crushes on: Christina Aguilera, Pink, Bridget Marquardt, Ellen Degeneres, Scarlet Johanson, and Drew Barrymore. I think all of these women are amazing in their field (ok well I just think Bridget and I would be bffs) and are incredibly talented and beautiful!

4. I can't do a non-girl push up to save my life- that's one thing The 30 Day Shred taught me!

5. I'm a major contradiction of myself these days. Some days I feel like little susie homemaker with dinner on the table at 6:30 sharp and a coupon clipping, recipe trading, Bree Vandekamp imitating existance that strives for perfection. Other days I long for my life to imitate the pin-ups of days gone by with a home dripping with satin and leopard fabrics, a lover that sends me roses, and an unmistakible magnetism that makes men and women fall at my red lacquered toes- while still other days I feel like a working woman at her best- stopping at Starbucks before a jam-packed work day that has me dragging my tired ass home well after dark. I guess that's what being at a quarter century does to you.

6. I am ridiculously resistant to anything that is "All The Rage" for just a few examples I avoid at all costs: Twilight, Harry Potter, Coffee (yeah my Starbucks runs are for Green Tea), Gossip Girl, Taylor Swift, American Idol, and the Bachelor. Would I like some of these things if I tried them? I'm sure. I'm just not going to try them.

7. When I was a teen I began reading V.C Andrews novels starting with The Flowers in the Attic Series. In her 4th novel in the series she created a teenage character who always matched from the inside out. Meaning her underpants always matched her outfits. As a teenager I thought that sounded like the epitome of put-togetherness therefore I strived for that. To this day I still dress this way - not always but I guarantee you if I have panties the same color as my shirt I'm going to have them on. Sadly enough in elementary school I used to worry that someday for some reason I would be seen in my underwear in class and that I should always have cute, matching ones on- therfore now I usually do. Sad. I know.

Ok....

Now, I get to give this award to 7 other bloggers! Here are the rules for passing the torch below:

1-Thank the person who nominated you for this award.
2-Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
3-Link to the person who nominated you for this award.
4-Name 7 things about yourself that people may not know.
5-Nominate 7 Kreativ Bloggers.
6-Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
7-Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know they've been nominated.

Now here are 7 fantabulous blogs that you can enjoy! There are so many more out there that I love and read daily. Give these ladies some love:

1. The Un Bride
2. Kell
3. Michelle
4. Somewhere in Between
5. Liana
6. Memphis Mama
7. Rachel Ann

Some of you ladies may have already received this award- if so I don't expect you to rewrite but you could always give me a little shout out - if ya want to! ( :

In other news:

Friday night =

Shredding day 3 ( yes I skipped yesterday) and today it was so much easier- I don't feel like death after a 20 minute workout. Yay!

Making the chicken, red potato, green bean dish featured at Kelly's Korner a week ago for Show Us Your Life (I loved it- Ben thought it was a bit too lemony- next time I plan to go half on the lemons)

Catching up on DVRd: Dancing With the Stars, Eastwick (I recommend it), and Project Runway

Blogging

And being damn happy that tomorrow is shopping and time with Boo as opposed to working. More Yay!

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Much Love!

Miss Amber Lane

PS: Sending my love to one of my besties: Miss Rachel Ann down in Louisiana. She's got a heavy case of the blues - so I send kisses!
